Mowat, speaking as an MLA in support of the budget, describes Pearson Hospital as an extended-care setting whose average age is 42, and names “a new type of disabled person called a high-lesion respiratory quadriplegic.” He then states that six such persons “will soon be leaving Pearson Hospital to move into their own accommodation at the Creekview Co-op on False Creek,” into “a six-bedroom co-op apartment … with all the support services plugged in.” He contrasts a Pearson per diem of $300 (about $2,000 a day for the six) with an estimated $45 to $50 per diem in the co-op. He frames the move as “mainstreaming.”

This is the earliest public official text inspected in this pass that names Creekview as the destination for ventilator-dependent high-lesion quadriplegia leaving Pearson. It is pre-opening: “will soon be leaving.” It does not use the numeral “202,” does not name an evaluation, and does not name CSIL or ECPM.

  • Whether Hansard after opening (see Nielsen, 10 April 1986) describes the same six residents.
