title	The document or record title, not a headline claim
date	ISO date used for sorting. For “c. 1987”, 1987-01-01 plus date_precision: approximate is enough
date_display	Human-readable date, including c. or a range
source_authors	Creators of the historical item, not website editors
source_type	One of: primary, near-primary, secondary, oral-history, reference-finding-aid
availability	See vocabularies
verification_status	See evidence statuses
period	Optional chapter tag (precursor, creekview, ecpm, design-pilot, province-wide, later-review, unknown)
organizations / people / topics	Identifiers or display names already used on this site when possible
external_url / archived_url	Stable public link and optional archived copy
document_path	Only if a file is lawfully hosted under documents/
rights_note	Copyright or permission status

author is a listing-friendly string. Quarto may also display it as page authorship; that is acceptable on source pages because it names the historical document’s creator.
